In 2017, SJB Planning was engaged by the Mount Macedon Winery to provide advice and assistance in relation to planning compliance action initiated by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.  The property had a history of use for a range of activities, including agriculture, a winery and wine tasting facility, a restaurant, a function centre, a residence and bed and breakfast accommodation, but the record of planning approvals was sketchy and incomplete. 

SJB Planning was able to source planning approval documentation for some of these uses and to source documentary evidence to support arguments necessary to establish existing use rights for the remainder of the uses, even though some of them were now prohibited uses in the zone in which the land was now situated.  We were also able to obtain a Certificate of Compliance from the Council validating planning permission for all of the uses and all of the buildings and works on the picturesque property lying immediately adjacent to the Macedon Ranges State Park.
